Dark aliens… with magic or without?
You asked for both. I listened—and now I need your vote.
Hello, my lovely alien-romance-loving friends!
I have a quick update from my writing cave.
Remember that poll where I asked if you wanted rom-com alien romance or dark alien romance?
Some of you were Team Rom-Com.
Some of you were Team Dark.
But the biggest group was… (drumroll!):
Team Both.
And although I was trying to make a decision, what I’ve decided is to let the group wisdom guide me.
Because while I love writing dark, emotionally intense alien romances (brooding warlords, brutal worlds, all the feels), I also adore writing zany, madcap alien romantic chaos—banter, misunderstandings, and aliens doing their absolute best at courtship and failing spectacularly.
So I’m not going to choose at all.
Instead, I’m alternating.
A light, romantic comedy alien romance series
Followed by a dark alien series
Balance achieved. Author sanity preserved. (Because really, I’m Team Both, too.)
I will definitely be starting with several rom-com alien romances, though, because after eighteen months in the dark, I’m ready to let my characters flirt, bicker, and accidentally set things on fire in the name of love. (The darkness is still there. Lurking. Looming. Waiting.)
I have one last dark-romance question for you, though:
For the next dark alien series, which do you want?
Option A: Dark Alien Romance
Straight-up sci-fi. Hot. Dangerous. Raw intensity.
Option B: Dark Alien Romantasy
Alien romance + fantasy romance.
Sci-fi with magic mixed in.
Think courts, ancient powers, destiny, dragons (or dragon-adjacent problems), and lush romantasy vibes—very Empire of Frost and Flame energy.
Below is an example of both aesthetics—same alien couple, two very different worlds:
Tell me which one you’d rather get abducted into!

A quick note before you go
The Empire of Frost and Flame will be wrapping up with Book 6, The Alien’s Wild Starblaze Realm, coming at the beginning of March. I’m finishing it up now, and I’m so excited (and a little emotional) to give Ivrael & Lara’s story the explosive ending it deserves. Thank you for being on this journey with me!
I’ve also tucked some alien romance recs by authors I love below—because your TBR can always handle more aliens.
Now go vote:
Dark alien romance… or dark alien romantasy?
And as ever…Happy Reading!
Alien Romance

I still like both. Perhaps the two could occur within the universe/world. Like an individual drawn by two individuals male/female or two couples drawn together.
